Wow, it has been a busy weekend. Not only did the latest Superman and Power Girl comics come out this week which I got on Friday (totally exciting!), but Friday and Saturday all day I attended a Mormon Studies Conference and it was: SUPER FABULOUS! It was held at the Claremont Colleges and the central topic and title of the conference was “War and Peace.” It was an extremely thought provoking conference for Mormons and non-mormons alike as it examined the concept of war and peace from biblical perspectives (even as the Mormons do use other scriptures along side of the Bible, it was still quite mentally stirring for us non-mormons, too). I expect to get a bunch of my notes and thoughts on the conference typed up for the blog here in the next few days.
While riding my bicycle home from the conference on Friday night, before stopping in to visit the Enchantress of Alvarado, I was bicycling by one of the houses where some of the Sugar Mountain Mamas live in Claremont and was thinking upon my approach from a couple of blocks away, “If I ride by and folks are home, I will definitely have to stop and catch up with them.” Sure enough, the ENTIRE band was there and they were rehearsing their latest and greatest song! So I got a sneak peak! We regaled each other with tales of our travels and adventures, and then off I flew to the Enchantress’.
Their main website looks like it’s down, but their myspace page is active. Checking that out, it looks like they’ve also got a song I haven’t heard about Yeti! In The Church of the Subgenius, if you are a subgenius, it means that you have yeti blood in you!!!! It’s a song about me!
See ya ‘round Pomona!
