The Memories

It’s Memorial Day weekend and thus one might reflect on the “memories.”

Flooding in Roundup

This weekend I’ve been chatting online with someone I know who lives in Roundup, Montana. For those of you who don’t know, this week Roundup has had the worst flooding in not just decades, but ever, “2 feet above its record flood level.” From what I hear, before they got good drainage for the roads around here, it used to flood in Pomona a bit, too.

Well, Roundup happens to also be next to a good sized river. Information found out through chatting with my friend whose house happens to be on higher ground, but their house is presently surrounded by water, literally they’re living on an island, was that:

“The river normally flows at around 300-800 cubic feet per second[, but] for the last several days it has been flowing at over 3000 cubic feet per second. The water had risen with the rains and then a series of reservoirs began dumping in as they were showing signs of stress… so at 1:30 a.m. Wedneday morning the streets in town were dry and functional with the exception of the rain fall, by 2 a.m. it it was submerged in water. No one in town can get out. All roads leading out are submerged in water. And the water [was] supposed to crest by Sunday.”

So that’s some exciting, crazy news.

Finished a Website

After months of work in consultation with the priests at my church, I finally finished the website for the church and took the new site to be live this weekend. Anyway, check out it at http://www.saintpaulspomona.org/ and if you have a personal, business or other website you need re-done or completed, please leave a comment below to contact me, or email me at the address on the “About” page!

Chilling out at the Enchantress’

Last night was a late night of fun at the Enchantress of Alvarado’s place. A couple of Disney Imagineers (co-workers of the Enchantress) were over for drinks and a good time. Trust Fund Girl and the Slut of the Skies were there, of course, too. The latest news on hir backyard is that now there is night lighting on a bunch of the trees, and the ghetto, above-ground pool has new plants around it to hid it’s presence. lol.

The night included watching a ton of clips from DVDs of Incubus concerts. Trust Fund Girl is totally into Incubus. All of their music sounds mostly boring and the same to me and the Slut of the Skies, but clearly they have a substantial fan base – of which everyone else there last night was a part. And after the concert stuff we watched the fabulous movie “Hairspray,” starring teenage heart-throb Zac Efron.

And then I bicycled home down the wonderful streets of Pomona.
