I came home today after crashing at a friend’s house and I have to say, there isn’t much that can compare to being “home.”
As I walked from the bus station in downtown Pomona, up Garey, past AMOCA and Western’s new place at PFF, along the Baptist Church, and the big brown one, and back home into Lincoln Park, it just felt so good to be home. I’ve only lived in the neighborhood for seven years, a far cry from the decades that a lot of other folks have been here, but it sure is darned nice to be back even after being gone just a day or so.
And now, like in the Rebecca Black song, “Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal,” I’m enjoying a hearty bowl of cold cereal this morning in the dining room of the old craftsman.
I just finished sweeping all the walks in front of the house, and now I think I’m ready to make myself a big pot of black tea to take me through the rest of the day.
In other news, the Artwalk was fabulous on Saturday night and I even ran into the Speidels who informed me that with all the permits and other hoops having been finally cleared, construction has officially now begun, to renovate the Mayfair Hotel! That is going to be a totally awesome addition to the glowing most wonderfulness of our city.
See ya ‘round Pomona!!!!
