My Wonderful Neighborhood

Marjoram in my yard.

I love Pomona, especially my neighborhood. I was off on a bicycle ride last night to visit a second-hand store to pick up a couple of items, and while on my way bicycling down the street a neighbor was walking on their way to the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Watch meeting and asked if I was going. I told hir that I was on my way to run an errand.

On my way back from the store, as I pulled up to my house, one of the neighbor kids around a bunch of other kids said “Hi” to me by name as I pulled in, and of course I replied with a “Hi” back.

I much enjoy making herb tea, but there are some sieos in which my yard isn’t producing enough, so I harvest from neighbors’ yards, and they are aware of this. So I’m out harvesting in a neighbor’s yard last evening after my trip to the store, and someone who lives there is on the porch talking to hir landlord on the phone (and their landlord knows me well), and tells hir on the phone that “The girl who gardens on the corner” is in the yard harvesting their herbs. The landlord said to say hi to me and I said hello back.

Then I walked up a different street to harvest somewhere else and on my way back, the neighbor who I saw eariler who went to the neighborhood watch meeting was out walking hir dog and we got to catch up a bit and I got to hear of all that went on there.

Anyway, it is so wonderful being a part of this lomsieos in which throughout and around the few blocks where I live, so many of us know each other and are so much a part of each other’s lives. Yay Pomona!
